Publishing Date: 1999-01-01
Features:
1. This book selects and collects prose, parallel prose, and other rhyming texts (excluding poetry, ci, and qu) by 537 writers from the pre-Qin period to the late Qing Dynasty, totaling 1,660+ pieces.
2. The main text is arranged in chronological order by dynasties, divided into six volumes: Pre-Qin, Qin and Han, Wei, Jin, Southern and Northern Dynasties, Sui and Five Dynasties, Song, Liao, Jin, Yuan, Ming, and Qing. An introductory essay titled General Introduction is provided before each historical period, offering a comprehensive analysis and overview of the historical background of prose creation during that time, the formation and development of prose schools, and the ideological and artistic characteristics of key writers and works.
3. The main text is divided into three parts: Annotations, Original Text, and Notes. The ancient texts included are based on authoritative and complete editions as the source. If there are gaps or errors in the source text, they are corrected by referring to other versions, and variant readings are generally not annotated.
4. The articles included in this book are arranged in chronological order by the birth years of the authors. For those with unknown birth years, they are placed in corresponding positions based on their active periods.
5. Works by the same author are generally arranged in order of completion. If the publication date is uncertain, they are grouped by genre.
6. Each included writer is accompanied by a brief biography, summarizing their name, origin, and life achievements, with a focus on their literary activities and achievements in prose creation.
7. This book uses simplified Chinese characters. In cases where ambiguity may arise, traditional characters or variant forms and archaic characters are used as needed.
8. Notes provide phonetic annotations for individual difficult characters, annotate ancient place names with their modern equivalents, and annotate historical years with the corresponding Common Era years. Except for years before the Common Era, only the year is generally indicated, omitting the words "Common Era" and "year."
