Features: "Research Series on the Current Situation and Development of China's Ethnic Minorities" is one of the major projects of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. It was jointly implemented by researchers and teaching staff from the Institute of Ethnology and Anthropology, the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and local ethnic research institutes and universities. This series is organized by ethnic minority counties (cities) as units, focusing on the economic and social development of each county (city), and is compiled based on field research. Each volume is divided into three parts: General, Typical, and Thematic, comprehensively reflecting the current situation and development trends in politics, economy, culture, education, and social aspects of the surveyed ethnic regions. As a type of national conditions research, this series not only provides a scientific basis for decision-making and strategic development by relevant leadership departments but also holds significant academic value.
According to the specific requirements of the "Research on the Current Situation and Development of China's Ethnic Minorities" project, the research team began to draft the preliminary reports in early 2004. After repeated revisions, the final drafts were completed in August 2005. The entire series is divided into three parts: General, Typical, and Thematic.
The General Part consists of 6 chapters, providing a comprehensive and objective reflection of the natural, cultural, political, economic, social, and educational development of Huzhu County. The data and materials generally use the end of 2003 as the lower limit, with some extending to the first half of 2004.
The Typical Part comprises 5 chapters, focusing on case studies of a representative town, a village, a school, an enterprise, and a monastery, highlighting the achievements and existing issues in agriculture, industry, education, and religion in the county since the reform and opening-up.
The Thematic Part includes 5 topics, which, based on the research, explore and analyze new situations and problems in Huzhu County's rural economy, industrial development, tourism, ethnic languages, and vocational education during the development process. It summarizes successful experiences, draws lessons from failures, and strives to propose practical development ideas and actionable recommendations based on actual conditions.
