Recovery period of acute kidney injury

Patient's question:

Recently, my appetite has been poor, and I've also noticed some swelling in my body. I feel completely exhausted. When I went to the hospital for a check-up, they said it was kidney disease. Please ask if this is the recovery period for acute kidney injury.

Doctor's answer:

Generally, full recovery takes three to six months, but after resting for three months, you can gradually engage in light training that is within your capacity. In the first three months of the acute phase, it is advisable to stay in bed and rest as much as possible. The diet should be low in salt and light, supplemented with high-quality, high-protein foods such as chicken, lean meat, and fish. Even after three months, you should avoid squatting or lifting heavy objects. Rest and diet allow for appropriate exercise, but avoid overexertion. Normal training can only be resumed after a thorough follow-up ultrasound examination confirms full recovery.
