Jiujiang Lushan Scenic Area, abbreviated as Lushan Scenic Area, is a tourist attraction located in Guling Town, Lushan City, Jiujiang City, Jiangxi Province. The scenic area covers an area of 302 square kilometers.
Lushan, also known as Kuangshan or Kuanglu, is a horst fault-block mountain. Lushan has appeared countless times in the poetry and literary works of scholars and writers, among which Su Shi's line "I cannot tell the true face of Lushan, only because I am within the mountain" is the most famous. Among the peaks are scattered many valleys, rock caves, waterfalls, and streams, with complex terrain and landforms. Today, Lushan is a mature tourist attraction, where the green mountains and clear waters, flying waterfalls, sunrise, and modern villas attract many visitors to come and glimpse the "true face of Lushan." Lushan faces the mighty Yangtze River to the north and borders the vast Poyang Lake to the south. The great river, great lake, and great mountain form an integrated whole, combining steepness with elegance and hardness with softness, and it has long been renowned for its "magnificence, wonder, steepness, and beauty." Lushan Scenic Area has a pleasant climate and lush vegetation, forming various types of landscapes including waterfalls and springs, mountains and rocks, plants, geology, and architecture, with a total of 12 scenic zones, 37 scenic spots, and 370 various landscapes. The main attractions of Lushan Scenic Area include Wulao Peak, Sandie Spring, Hanpo Pass, Lulin Lake, Great Heavenly Pool, Huajing, Ruqin Lake, Jinxiu Valley, Xianren Cave, Lesser Heavenly Pool, Donglin Temple, White Deer Grotto Academy, Lushan Botanical Garden, Lushan Museum, and others. Guling Town is a unique mountain town on Lushan and also the tourist center of Lushan Scenic Area.
On May 8, 2007, Lushan Scenic Area in Jiujiang City, Jiangxi Province, was confirmed as a National AAAAA-level tourist attraction by the National Tourism Administration of the People's Republic of China. From May 11 to June 9, 2026, the Lushan transportation cableway will be suspended for annual maintenance. It will resume normal operation from 7:30 AM on June 10.
