Features: The specialized town is a great initiative in the development of rural construction in China. It originated in the mid-1980s, emerged in the early 1990s, and developed in the middle and late 1990s. The more rapidly developing specialized towns have entered a new stage of the second entrepreneurship. In 2000, the economic theory academic circles in Guangdong Province formally proposed the concept of "specialized town." The specialized town first developed in rural areas with a relatively high level of private enterprise development in China, and then expanded to towns and even cities, giving rise to "specialized streets." The author, while participating in the social practice of the development research of the Pearl River Delta, began to seriously study the works of experts and scholars on specialized towns starting from 2000, combining the realities of the development of specialized towns in the Pearl River Delta. He found significant differences between the realities of the development of specialized towns in the Pearl River Delta and the research and discussions of experts and scholars, which sparked a strong interest in systematic research. Over a period of five years, he completed this work, proposing numerous new insights and inviting readers and experts to engage in further discussion. This book is divided into six chapters: Chapter 1 primarily analyzes the specialized town as an innovation in China's rural development and a unique regional economic geographical phenomenon. Chapter 2 introduces the different perspectives of experts and scholars on the research of specialized towns. Chapter 3 primarily analyzes and proposes the theories and foundations for the development and research of specialized towns. Chapter 4 proposes the mechanisms for the construction and development of specialized towns. Chapter 5 discusses the process of the construction and development of specialized towns as one of continuous innovation. Chapter 6 uses case studies to argue the theoretical issues related to the development of specialized towns at three levels. This book may be the first comprehensive and in-depth systematic research on specialized towns from multiple levels and fields, and it actively engages in discussions with some scholars on many issues and viewpoints.
