Features: This book discusses the history of the development of Chinese historiography, starting from the legendary era and ending with the founding of the People's Republic of China. The volumes will be published in installments. This volume contains two parts. Part 1, Introduction (Preface), is the general overview of the entire book and not the main text. In this part, the author discusses the tasks and scope of historiography, the division of Chinese historiography into periods, and also mentions the ancient and modern discussions about the history of Harbin. Additionally, the author presents their exploration and ideas regarding the history of Chinese historiography. Most of the content in this part consists of the author's immature opinions, which are presented for the reference of fellow scholars. When referring to predecessors in the field of historiography, some are addressed as "Mr./Ms." while others are not. Those addressed as "Mr./Ms." are senior experts the author has personally interacted with, including teachers they studied under. This form of address is used only in this part and will not be followed in subsequent chapters. The second part is an discussion on pre-Qin historiography. The structure and arguments in this part reflect some new perspectives. Of course, whether these perspectives are correct is yet to be debated.
