Features: This monograph is an exploratory and descriptive study on the new urban poor communities and social exclusion in China. The main research question is: How are the new urban poor communities socially excluded? The study employs a mixed-methods design with primary and secondary research, conducting in-depth interviews and questionnaires in the Xifengli community of Tianjin. Based on the social exclusion theory of Gordon and other scholars, the author deduces Evers' welfare triangle theory into independent variables of the employment system and the social welfare system, and the participation variable of the family system, adding the dependent variable of social exclusion to form the research framework. On this basis, the author deeply analyzes the relationship between the welfare triangle system and the social exclusion of the new urban poor communities, explores the institutional reasons for their social exclusion, and proposes social policy recommendations to eliminate social exclusion. This book is one of the few relatively standardized academic works in the field of social policy research in China.
