Features: This book is one of Phoenix TV's flagship programs – the Historical Volume of the Century Lecture Hall. It spans the past and present, focusing on major historical events and significant figures. From Zeng Guofan to Empress Dowager Cixi, from the Xia-Shang Period to the Korean War, from Matteo Ricci to Beijing's bid for the Olympics. Renowned scholars such as Zhu Weizheng, Feng Tianyu, Li Boqian, and Zhang Xinggang are invited to discuss Chinese history, providing readers with a deeper understanding of the essence of Chinese historical culture. A famous lecture hall, authoritative scholars, public topics, rigorous framework, and a platform for intellectual debate! Here is a forum of freedom and thought; here is a banquet of ideas and a hall of academia; here is a garden of independent spirit and free thought; here is no prejudice, emphasizing "to explore the connection between heaven and humanity, to understand the changes from ancient to modern times, and to form one's own unique perspective." Here is a platform for scholars in the Greater Chinese Cultural Circle to interpret unique ideas and showcase new academic achievements. Let classic scholarship enter the public eye. We do not wish to clothe academia in grandeur, hence we strive to avoid those who are always eager to interpret academia as obscure and esoteric. What we aim to do is to bring theories long confined in dusty rooms into the square, placing them within the vibrant fabric of social life. Academia should be transparent, like sunlight, illuminating the lives of most people.
