Patient's question:
Sometimes before a recurrence, one often feels dizzy. When it's severe, apart from symptoms like headache, chest tightness, fatigue, and excessive phlegm, I'd like to understand what are the symptoms of primary epilepsy?Doctor's answer:
Primary epilepsy is a type of epilepsy symptom caused by abnormal electrical pulses in the brain. Epilepsy patients experience two types of seizures. The first is a sudden loss of consciousness, foaming at the mouth, followed by muscle stiffness and spasm. This is called a grand seizure. The second is a brief or unconscious episode, followed by complete recovery of consciousness. This is called a minor seizure. Patients who have two seizures per year should be treated with medication. Focal seizures are characterized by localized or unilateral limb twitching. If the abnormal electrical pulses in the brain spread, this twitching can spread to the entire body. Psychomotor seizures, also known as complex partial seizures, can manifest as sudden episodes, confusion, irregular and uncoordinated movements.
