Features: This book is primarily intended for anesthesiology residents rotating through pediatric anesthesia. It combines the pediatric anesthesia rotation education program at Rochester University and the rotating resident education program at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. It is hoped that this book will become an excellent textbook for anesthesiology residents rotating through pediatric anesthesia, preparing for written and oral exams. Mastering the content of this book enables residents to perform safe pediatric anesthesia procedures and is also helpful for preparing for recertification exams. The book summarizes the professional experience of the authors as pediatricians and adult anesthesiologists. Since most anesthesiology residents lack experience in general pediatrics and pediatric anesthesia, the book explains the differences between pediatric anesthesia and adult anesthesia operations at a basic level. Therefore, it is hoped that readers have a foundation in adult anesthesia knowledge before reading this book. The book does not repeat the content elaborated in adult anesthesia textbooks. It focuses on the clinical operation foundation strictly adhering to medical care standards. Most chapters include thought-provoking clinical cases. When the literature does not provide a clear answer to clinical questions, anesthesiologists must rely on their personal experience and current medical care standards to proceed.
