Features: Multicultural coexistence and cross-cultural dialogue are vivid portrayals of contemporary human development. Faced with this reality of multicultural coexistence, the smooth progress of humanity relies not on conflict and mutual exclusion between cultures, but on the true emergence of cross-cultural dialogue and the communication, understanding, and mutual tolerance achieved through it. Christianity itself is a product of the meeting and fusion of multiple cultures, containing diverse cultural elements and preserving multiple traditions of civilization. Despite this, the religion has yet to fully address the new and old problems and challenges brought by multicultural development, facing the arduous task of continuously adjusting itself and adapting to external circumstances. Therefore, the parallel between Christianity and cross-cultural dialogue, based on the stance, attitude, positioning, and orientation within this pluralistic dialogue, has become a topic of great concern. To explore the choices and direction of Christianity within the context of multicultural coexistence and interweaving, the Research Center for Christian Studies at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, in collaboration with the China Studies Department of Veritas College in Canada, organized an academic conference titled "Christianity and Cross-Cultural Dialogue" from December 7 to 10, 2005, at the Baochen Hotel in Beijing.
