Can early-stage cirrhosis be treated?

Patient's question:

A while ago, I was diagnosed with liver cirrhosis. It was detected at an early stage. I don't know if it can be cured.

Doctor's answer:

Cirrhosis is a common chronic liver disease that can be caused by one or more different reasons leading to liver damage, with the liver presenting progressive, diffuse, and fibrotic lesions. Clinically, it is characterized by diffuse degeneration and suppuration of hepatocytes, followed by the recurrence of fibrous tissue fibrosis and nodular regeneration of hepatocytes. These three changes intertwine repeatedly, gradually expanding the structure of liver lobules and blood circulation pathways, resulting in liver deformation and hardening, ultimately leading to cirrhosis.
General treatment 1) For patients with compensated liver function, appropriate exercise should be increased. In the decompensated stage, bed rest should be the primary approach. 2) Diet should generally consist of high-calorie, high-protein, vitamin-rich, and palatable foods.
