Features: The idea of compiling the "Bibliography of American Studies on the Qing Dynasty (1971-2006)" (hereinafter referred to as "The Bibliography") originated in early 2005. The Translation Group of the National Qing History Compilation Committee proposed a comprehensive cataloging and organization of research on the Qing Dynasty published in the United States, aiming to enable domestic scholars to gain a more comprehensive and systematic understanding of overseas Qing history research. This would provide support for the ongoing national Qing history compilation project and individual academic research. In May 2005, the project was officially approved by the Translation Group, and the editing work of "The Bibliography" began simultaneously in China and the United States, concluding in June 2006. "The Bibliography" includes nearly 2,500 entries and over 1,100 authors. Among them, there are over 450 academic monographs, more than 750 journal articles from over 110 publications, more than 850 articles from 240 edited volumes, and 438 doctoral dissertations from 67 institutions. To facilitate the use of "The Bibliography," the author now provides a brief explanation of the editing process and format of the work. The greatest challenge in compiling "The Bibliography" was how to include all research findings. There are many scholars, publishing institutions, and books on the Qing Dynasty in the United States, and after 30 years of accumulation, when the authors began to collect and organize Qing history publications since 1971, they faced a complex field. This difficulty was further highlighted by the urgency of publishing the project's results.
