Why does chronic minor hepatitis B cause general fatigue?

Patient's question:

Why does chronic minor hepatitis B cause general fatigue? Is this related to my condition? What exactly is causing this.

Doctor's answer:

It is recommended to have liver function and hepatitis B virus DNA tests. Generally, when the virus in the body begins to replicate, it triggers the immune system to fight it, which in turn leads to liver cell damage. Damaged liver cells can cause an increase in cholinesterase in the blood, resulting in physiological dysfunction of nerve and muscle fusion. This prevents the timely destruction of acetylcholine, the neurotransmitter, after its release, leading to prolonged effects on skeletal muscle. The excessive activation of skeletal muscle then transitions to inhibition, causing symptoms of general fatigue. Therefore, if the test results show abnormal liver function and a positive hepatitis B virus DNA test, active antiviral treatment should be implemented.
