This book is the first monograph in modern China to examine the relationship between Chinese literature and music. It was published by the Commercial Press in 1935 and translated into Japanese by the Japanese scholar Yokori Ichikawa in 1936 and published in Japan. Later, there were a lead-type edition by Peking University Press in 1989, a photomechanical copy by Shanghai Bookstore in the same year as part of the "Republic Series," and a volume in the "Collected Works of Zhu Qianzhi" by Fujian Education Press in 2002. This edition is based on the "Collected Works of Zhu Qianzhi" and references other versions to correct some text. During the compilation process, we received great assistance from Mr. Huang Xinchuan of the Institute of Asia-Pacific Studies, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and Mr. Huang Xiannian of the Institute of World Religions, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.
