Features: Movie Companion to Chinese Literature Collection. The author, Liang Bin (1914-1996), originally named Liang Weizhou, was from Lixian, Hebei. In 1930, he entered Baoding Second Normal School to study. In 1932, he participated in the school protection movement during the student uprising at the school. He wrote short stories such as "Night of Exchange" and "Three Bolshevik Fathers" and a middle-length novel "Father" based on the "Gao-Li Uprising" in his hometown. In 1937, he joined the revolution. In 1953, he began writing "Red Flag," which was published in 1957. In 1963, the second part of "Red Flag," "Spreading the Fire," was published, and in 1983, the third part, "Fog and Fire," was published. He also wrote the long novel "Story of the Uprooting."
