Features: In the 1950s and 1960s, our press organized the publication of selections of outstanding long novels nationwide, showcasing the style and level of long novel creation at that time. After the new period, the number of long novels increased significantly, with themes, styles, and techniques becoming increasingly diverse. To more comprehensively reflect the achievements of long novel creation during this period, in May 2004, we edited and published the series "Representative Works of Famous Contemporary Chinese Novelists," featuring the works of twenty-five authors. These works either excelled in depth, stood out for their uniqueness, had once sparked strong responses, or were widely favored by readers. The series received positive social feedback after publication. For this re-publication, we adjusted the original series' selection, added more works, and included those that had won the Mao Dun Literature Prize in the "Complete Collection of Mao Dun Literature Prize Winners." As a result, the "Representative Works of Famous Contemporary Chinese Novelists" series now offers a more complete and comprehensive selection, and it aligns with our previously published "Contemporary Chinese Long Novel Collection" and "Complete Collection of Mao Dun Literature Prize Winners," allowing readers to gain a clearer understanding of the development and overall style of long novel creation in China since the founding of the People's Republic from different stages and perspectives.
