Features: "The American Law Series" is one of the projects under the "China-U.S. Leaders Rule of Law Initiative." This initiative plans to translate over a hundred books, providing a comprehensive introduction to high-level American legal works. It is the largest legal book import project in China to date. The works in "The American Law Series" will be released to benefit readers. In this book, "The Restatement (Second) of Contracts" is simply referred to as "The Second Restatement," while "The Restatement of Contracts" (the first edition) is simply called "The Restatement" or "The First Restatement." When citing cases, brief excerpts or a short passage indicating the relevance of the case to the discussed issue are typically provided in parentheses immediately following the citation. If a case is cited multiple times within the same section, subsequent citations will use cross-references to direct readers to the information provided in the first citation. Of course, the material provided in parentheses is merely a guide to the court's opinion, and the court's opinion itself is the only reliable way to understand the essence of the case's judgment. This book does not indicate whether a case has been rejected by an appellate court, including instances where the U.S. Supreme Court has refused to grant a writ of certiorari.
