Features: The vast ocean covers more than two-thirds of the Earth's surface. The petroleum resources (including natural gas, the same below) in the seabed account for more than 60% of the total oil and gas resources on land and sea. Eventually, humans will focus on the development of seabed oil and gas resources. As is well known, oil resource development requires geophysical exploration to initially delineate potential oil-bearing areas and depths. Ultimately, drilling must be performed to penetrate several kilometers of strata to confirm the depth and reserves of the discovered oil. Then, a detailed and economical development plan must be formulated, utilizing high-technology methods such as drilling development wells, completing wells, and oil production to obtain the oil. Marine oil development engineering primarily involves the use of marine drilling equipment and oil production equipment to conduct drilling, completion, oil production, oil and gas separation and treatment, and oil and gas gathering for development wells. These engineering technologies, processes, and corresponding equipment are the means to acquire marine oil and gas. The purpose of this book is to help a wide range of marine oil engineering management personnel, workers, and faculty and students of relevant disciplines in petroleum universities understand the aforementioned engineering technologies, processes, and equipment. It can also serve as a popular science reading material for enthusiasts of marine oil development engineering.
