Of course, some may worry that this format might lack uniformity and lead to repetition. The editors believe there is no need to worry. The format is generally unified, but it is neither possible nor necessary to be as orderly as a textbook with clearly defined chapters. The editors recall that when they first entered the field of ancient books' editions, they read a variety of books, such as Zhang Zhidong's Catalogue of Books Answered, Ye Dehui's A Clear Talk on the Forest of Books, Sun Yuxiu's A Study on the Origin of Chinese Woodblock Printing, Ye Changchi's Poems on Book Collecting, as well as bibliographies and prefaces by various authors. It was truly a wide array of books—why should one be confined to a single format or framework? But in the end, they learned the art of edition studies. With ten or so volumes in this series, some repetition in the content is not a problem. For example, some may classify Mao Jin's Jigu Ge as a family-engraved edition, while others may consider it a shop-engraved edition. Each author writes from their own perspective, with different insights. A bit of diversity—like a hundred flowers blooming—is not as interesting as a single flower blooming.
