Features: Yang Qing is a renowned mezzo-soprano, a first-class performing artist, and a graduate of the vocal department of the Shanghai Conservatory of Music. Since the early 1980s, she has been a principal opera singer with the Shanghai Opera House, engaging in opera work for over two decades. She has performed leading roles in more than ten Chinese and foreign operas and has collaborated with numerous internationally acclaimed opera conductors, directors, and singers. In the early 2000s, she taught at the Shanghai Normal University Conservatory of Music, serving as the deputy director of the Department of Music Performance. Since entering the teaching profession, Yang Qing has combined her extensive stage experience with her expertise in vocal pedagogy. She noticed that while collections of solo songs from both Chinese and foreign operas are readily available, collections of choral pieces are scarce. This realization sparked her idea to compile a collection of choral songs. Through her persistent efforts, the "Foreign Opera Choral Collection" was created. The "Foreign Opera Choral Collection" consists of carefully selected principal choral passages from classic operas around the world, featuring diverse styles suitable for both male and female voice parts, including duets and trios or more. Organized by language, it comprises five volumes. The publication of this opera choral collection undoubtedly enriches the stage of vocal art and provides a valuable teaching material for art schools in choral training. I am confident that the "Foreign Opera Choral Collection" will be warmly welcomed and appreciated by vocal artists, vocal enthusiasts, and students and faculty of art schools.
