Why is semen yellow?

Patient's question:

Medical Description: Discovered yellow semen in March 2010.
History of Treatment and Effect: No treatment has been administered.
Help Needed: What medication can help recover quickly?

Doctor's answer:

Semen discoloration to yellow may theoretically indicate inflammation or infection. Since prostatic fluid and seminal vesicle secretion are the main factors in semen formation, yellow semen is likely related to prostatitis or seminal vesiculitis. Normally, freshly ejaculated semen is viscous, milky white, and contains grayish-white clumps. Approximately 10 minutes later, the clumps liquefy on their own, turning into a translucent, cloudy, thin mucus. Yellow semen is a symptom, not a disease. This condition is common in adolescents. The main physiological factors include: infrequent sexual activity, irregular sexual habits, or long-term masturbation, which may lead to yellow semen.
