Features: Colleagues from Shandong Province have written an excellent book titled "New Curriculum Concepts and Teaching Practices in High School English." Comrade Hongde, the editor-in-chief, showed me the manuscript, allowing me to read it in advance. I am deeply grateful. The book is divided into three parts: Concepts, Exploration, and Cases. Each part is concise and to the point, introducing or interpreting the key concepts of the National English Curriculum Standards. The second part explores four topics—new curriculum teaching design, implementation, evaluation, and teacher professional development—based on the new curriculum standards, combining insights and experiences gained by teachers and researchers in their work. The third part is the Cases section, which provides numerous examples in various aspects such as language knowledge and skills teaching, unit-based teaching, and teaching evaluation. I carefully read the entire book. The first and second parts further elaborate and expand on many concepts covered by the high school curriculum standards, greatly benefiting me. What I particularly appreciate is the third part, which offers a wealth of cases. These cases come from the teaching practices of frontline teachers and have been refined, processed, and deepened by the author. They are so relatable, vivid, practical, comprehensive, and typical. As a participant in the development of the English curriculum standards, I must admit that due to time constraints, we were unable to provide enough cases for teachers in the standards. The existing cases can only be considered examples of cases. However, the third part of this book largely addresses this shortcoming in the standards. For this reason, I would like to take this opportunity to express my sincere gratitude to the authors—my many colleagues from Shandong Province—for writing this book.
