Features: Reading and analyzing excellent literature is the unconscious pursuit of linguistic perfection! As the new century arrives, we proudly present to primary and secondary school students a series of books titled "21st Century Primary and Secondary School Students' 'Learning to Write' Series." This series is designed to complement the supplementary Chinese language textbooks "Writing" used in primary and secondary schools. During the writing process, we strive to embody the following characteristics:
1. Targeted Approach. Many students experience slow improvement in their writing skills, and the root cause lies in inadequate and misguided guidance. This series addresses the key and difficult issues that arise in primary and secondary school students' writing learning. Experienced teachers and experts in writing instruction (research) provide guidance. Each book begins with "Words from Experts" and "Introduction by Renowned Educators," offering guidance and explanations on the book's content. This helps students "read model essays" and easily grasp the essence, while the "Learn to Write" section enables continuous improvement. Thus, it better fulfills the teaching requirements for writing stipulated by the Chinese language curriculum for primary and secondary schools, truly broadens students' writing horizons, and organically integrates reading and writing to comprehensively and effectively improve writing skills.
2. Novelty. The model essays selected for this series are newly written by renowned authors and outstanding essays from national competitions and primary and secondary school entrance exams over the past two years. They cover a wide range and full range of topics, offering fresh perspectives on the rich and diverse lives of students at home, school, and in society. These essays align with the psychological characteristics and cognitive levels of primary and secondary school students, closely reflecting their emotional world. They represent the best writing level of students at the turn of the century and possess strong contemporary appeal, benefiting students' learning and reference.
3. Series Structure. What kind of writing guidance books do primary and secondary school students most desire? This is the key focus of our research in compiling this series. Primary school is the foundational stage, and writing instruction must align with the psychological characteristics and cognitive levels of young students. Based on this principle, the primary school section revolves around the central theme of "Childlike Innocence and Playfulness" and is divided into four books: "Ordinary People," "Familiar Events," "Scenes and Things," and "Exercises in Writing Fragments." Junior high school is the stage of accumulation and improvement, where students have the opportunity to participate in various writing competitions while preparing for the junior high school entrance exam. These practical activities are organized into four books: "Learning and Accumulating," "Exercises in Excellent Writing," "Exam Writing," and "Winning Awards in Competitions." High school primarily focuses on preparing for the college entrance exam. Following the concept of the "Development Level" in the college entrance exam writing requirements and based on the four evaluation criteria for the exam: "artistic expression," "innovation," "vivid imagery," and "depth," the series is divided into four books. This forms a progressive series of training exercises.
Renowned educator and veteran of the Chinese language field, Ye Shengtao, once said, "Writing is based on reading." He also stated, "Reading and analyzing excellent literature is the unconscious pursuit of linguistic perfection." We hope this series will explore new approaches in this regard and become a trusted guide and companion for primary and secondary school students learning to write. We also wish that young readers will gain new inspiration for writing from this book and reach new heights in their writing skills!
The authors of this book are primarily experienced Chinese language teachers, curriculum developers, and experts in Chinese language education.
