Introduction to the Series: The Public English Test System (PETS), designed and developed by the National Education Examination Center, is an open examination system for the general public. It caters to the needs of candidates at different levels and is divided into five levels. Each level of examination is a target-referenced test, with question types designed to assess listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills to comprehensively evaluate candidates' English communicative abilities at the corresponding level. To help candidates familiarize themselves with the structure, distribution of question types, and difficulty of the target tests at each level, we have specially invited experienced special-grade teachers, lecturers, associate professors, and professors from secondary schools and university English teaching backgrounds to jointly compile the "PETS 1-5 Level Mock Tests" (written part and oral examination part) and the "PETS Oral Examination 1-5 Level Guidance" series. These books are intended for candidates' self-assessment to achieve proficiency through practice. This series is edited by Professor Wang Xiuzhen as the Chief Editor. The "PETS 1-5 Level Mock Tests" (written part) are edited by five associate professors: Yu Maosheng, Zhang Hongmin, Cheng Weihua, Ran Xiaoqun, and Wang Huoyan. The "PETS Oral Examination 1-5 Level Guidance" is contributed to by Associate Professor Chen Ruiping. All the contributors are teachers from Wuhan University, many of whom have studied abroad in the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and Singapore, and most have obtained master's degrees in English Language and Literature. This series is published by Wuhan University Press. We extend our gratitude to the leadership of the publisher and the Foreign Language Editing Office, Deputy Editor-in-Chief Wang Chunge and other colleagues, for making this series available in a timely manner. We believe this series will have a positive social impact.
