Features: The subject Olympiads for primary and secondary schools (referred to as "subject Olympiads") are one of the most extensive, widely participated, and influential student subject competitions in China. Subject Olympiads are derived from and extended from the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO), the International Physics Olympiad (IPHO), the International Chemistry Olympiad (ICHO), and other internationally influential middle school subject competitions, which attract millions of young students every year. The reason for such widespread attention lies in the strong innovation, flexibility, comprehensiveness of Olympiads, as well as their focus on cultivating students' exploration skills and inspiring their innovative awareness. These are precisely the core content of quality education, which is also the need for future development. Based on years of careful research on this activity both domestically and internationally, as well as a large number of outstanding books in this category, the Editorial Department of Subject Olympiads for Primary and Secondary Schools has invited outstanding educators dedicated to this field from all over the country to compile and publish a series of Olympiad reading materials, including "Golden Medal Olympiads" and "Golden Medal Schools," covering seven subjects—mathematics, Chinese, English, physics, chemistry, biology, and informatics—with over 200 varieties. In terms of the variety, quantity, and quality of our Olympiad books, they are considered the most influential among peers both domestically and internationally, and are the most appealing to primary and secondary school teachers and students. The compilation purpose and characteristics of the "Golden Medal Olympiads" and "Golden Medal Schools" series are as follows:
1. High: Derived from the curriculum but exceeding it. Derived from the curriculum means referring to the new [curriculum standards] issued by the Ministry of Education; exceeding the curriculum means closely aligning with the competition syllabi at all levels, ensuring comprehensive alignment in content, question types, and skill requirements, thereby fostering interest, developing intelligence, and enhancing abilities.
2. Accurate: Scientifically precise and well-structured. Each book is designed according to the characteristics of the subject, scientifically organized, and follows a step-by-step approach, providing in-depth yet accessible analysis and comprehensive teaching of problem-solving methods.
3. Innovative: The questions are novel, unique, and engaging. They collect the essence of recent Olympiad, middle school, and high school exam questions from both domestically and internationally, representing the highest level of current Olympiads, reflecting new concepts in curriculum reform and innovative ideas, methods, and trends in competition question-setting.
4. Refined: Selected examples are challenging yet logical, flexible, and achievable. The focus is on generalizing from one example to many, understanding different problem-solving approaches, and training thinking skills without resorting to rote memorization, making learning an interest and hobby.
5. Renowned: Gathered by famous teachers and collected from famous competitions. The Editorial Department of Subject Olympiads for Primary and Secondary Schools has invited renowned professors from prestigious universities, special-grade teachers, senior teachers, subject leaders, and famous Olympiad gold medal coaches to co-author these books.
