Features: The subject Olympiad for primary and secondary schools (briefly referred to as the subject Olympiad) is one of the most extensive, widely participated, and influential subject competitions for primary and secondary school students in China. The subject Olympiad draws inspiration and extends from the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO), the International Physics Olympiad (IPHO), the International Chemistry Olympiad (ICHO), and other internationally influential subject competitions for secondary school students, which attract millions of young students every year. The reason for such widespread attention lies in the Olympiad's strong innovation, flexibility, comprehensiveness, and emphasis on cultivating students' exploration skills and inspiring their innovative awareness, which are precisely the core elements of quality education. This is also the need for future development. Based on years of careful research on this activity both domestically and internationally, as well as a large number of outstanding books in this category, the Editorial Board of the Subject Olympiad for Primary and Secondary Schools has invited outstanding educators dedicated to this field from all over the country to sequentially compile and publish a series of Olympiad books titled "Gold Medal Olympiad" and "Gold Medal School," covering a total of more than 200 varieties in seven subjects: mathematics, Chinese, English, physics, chemistry, biology, and information science. In terms of the variety, quantity, and quality of our Olympiad books, they are arguably the most influential among peers both domestically and internationally, and hold the greatest charm in the hearts of primary and secondary school teachers and students. The compilation purpose and characteristics of the "Gold Medal Olympiad" and "Gold Medal School" series are as follows:
1. High: Derived from the curriculum but exceeding it. Derived from the curriculum means it is written in accordance with the new [curriculum standards] of the Ministry of Education; exceeding the curriculum means it is closely aligned with the competition syllabi at all levels, ensuring comprehensive alignment in content, question types, and ability requirements, thereby fostering interest, developing intelligence, and enhancing skills.
2. Accurate: Scientifically precise and well-structured. Each book is designed hierarchically according to the characteristics of the subject, scientifically organized, and follows a step-by-step approach to provide in-depth yet accessible analysis and detailed problem-solving methods.
3. Innovative: The selected question types are novel, unique, and engaging. They gather the essence of recent Olympiad, middle school, and high school exam questions from both domestically and internationally, representing the highest level of current Olympiad standards and reflecting new concepts in curriculum reform, as well as new ideas, methods, and trends in competition question-setting.
4. Refined: Carefully selected examples are challenging yet not obscure, flexible, and achievable. The focus is on learning through examples and generalizing from specific cases; it emphasizes multi-solution, multi-transformation, and multi-question approaches to one problem; it prioritizes the training of thinking skills rather than rote memorization, making learning an interest and hobby.
5. Renowned: A gathering of distinguished teachers and a collection of famous competitions. The Editorial Board of the Subject Olympiad for Primary and Secondary Schools has invited renowned professors from prestigious universities, special-grade teachers, senior teachers, subject leaders, and famous Olympiad gold medal coaches to jointly compile the books.
