Features: The subject Olympiads for primary and secondary schools (briefly referred to as subject Olympiads) are a comprehensive, widely participated, and highly influential academic competition activity for primary and secondary school students in China. Subject Olympiads are derived from and extended from the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO), the International Physics Olympiad (IPHO), the International Chemistry Olympiad (ICHO), and other internationally influential subject competitions for secondary school students, which attract millions of young students every year. The reason for such widespread attention lies in the strong innovation, flexibility, comprehensiveness of Olympiads, as well as their focus on cultivating students' exploration skills and inspiring their innovative awareness. These are precisely the core elements of quality education, which are also essential for future development. Based on years of in-depth research on this activity both domestically and internationally, as well as a large number of outstanding books in this category, the Editorial Board of Subject Olympiads for Primary and Secondary Schools has invited outstanding educators dedicated to this field from all over the country to compile and publish a series of Olympiad books titled "Golden Medal Olympiads" and "Golden Medal Schools," covering a total of more than 200 varieties in seven subjects: mathematics, Chinese, English, physics, chemistry, biology, and information science. In terms of the variety, quantity, and quality of our Olympiad books, they are arguably the most influential in the industry both domestically and internationally, and are considered the most appealing to primary and secondary school teachers and students. The compilation purpose and characteristics of the "Golden Medal Olympiads" and "Golden Medal Schools" series are as follows:
1. High: Derived from the curriculum but exceeding it. Derived from the curriculum means it is written in accordance with the new [curriculum standards] of the Ministry of Education; exceeding the curriculum means it is closely aligned with the competition syllabi of various levels, ensuring comprehensive alignment in content, question types, and ability requirements, thereby fostering interest, developing intelligence, and enhancing skills.
2. Accurate: Scientifically precise and well-structured. Each book is designed according to the characteristics of the subject, scientifically organized, and follows a step-by-step approach, providing in-depth yet accessible analysis and detailed problem-solving methods.
3. Innovative: The questions selected are novel, unique, and engaging. They gather the essence of recent Olympiad, middle school, and high school exam questions from both China and abroad, representing the highest level of current Olympiad standards and reflecting new concepts in curriculum reform, as well as new ideas, methods, and trends in competition question-setting.
4. Exquisite: Carefully selected examples are challenging yet not obscure, flexible, and achievable. The focus is on generalization and cross-application; multiple solutions, variations, and extensions of single problems are emphasized. It prioritizes the training of thinking skills rather than rote memorization, making learning an interest and hobby.
5. Renowned: Gathered by famous teachers and collected from prestigious competitions. The Editorial Board of Subject Olympiads for Primary and Secondary Schools has invited renowned professors from top universities, distinguished teachers from key secondary schools, senior teachers, subject leaders, and famous Olympiad gold medal coaches to contribute.
