Features: Since the advent of computers in the mid-20th century, computer technology has undergone rapid development and has been increasingly and deeply applied to various fields of human society, profoundly impacting the progress of human society. Today, the toolization of computers has become a common consensus, and information technology has also received increasing attention. Proficiently using computer technology to process relevant information is increasingly regarded as an important indicator for measuring the work capabilities of contemporary professional technical personnel. In line with the teaching requirements of universities nationwide set by the Ministry of Education, the "Fundamentals of University Computer" course has been designated as a public basic course for non-computer majors in higher education institutions, and the computer laboratory course has been listed as a complementary component, serving as a crucial teaching segment for cultivating students' basic computer skills. This book is written in accordance with the teaching syllabus requirements of the "Fundamentals of University Computer" course, specifically for the computer laboratory course of non-computer majors. In terms of teaching content, it is coordinated with the "Fundamentals of University Computer" but remains relatively independent, with the focus on cultivating and enhancing students' practical computer skills. In terms of teaching schedule, it proceeds in synchronization with the "Fundamentals of University Computer," but in terms of teaching methods, it does not involve classroom instruction. Instead, it is conducted under the guidance of teachers, primarily through student self-study and hands-on computer practice. In terms of teaching content, to accommodate the varying levels of computer proficiency among incoming students, the book begins with the basics of computer hardware and software. After introducing fundamental computer operations, it emphasizes the introduction of currently widely used operating systems such as Windows XP, common office software like Office 2003, as well as computer networks and multimedia technology.
