Features: The Book of Songs was originally called Poetry or Three Hundred Poems and was revered as a "classic" during the Han Dynasty, after which it was named The Book of Songs. Compiled during the Spring and Autumn Period, it contains 305 poems. These works were created roughly from the early years of the Western Zhou Dynasty to the middle of the Spring and Autumn Period, spanning about 600 years. The Book of Songs is divided into three parts: Feng, Ya, and Song. Feng refers to folk songs, including the fifteen Guofeng (national songs), such as Zhou Nan, Zhao Nan, Bei Feng, Yong Feng, Wei Feng, Wang Feng, Zheng Feng, Qi Feng, Wei Feng, Tang Feng, Qin Feng, Chen Feng, Huai Feng, and Cao Feng. This compilation and translation is based on the Qing Dynasty edition of The Thirteen Classics with Annotations by Ruan Yuan, selecting eighty-one poems that the editor believes best represent the spirit of The Book of Songs. Each poem includes four parts: the original text, translation, introduction, and annotations, to facilitate readers' understanding.
