Features: Since the Ministry of Education issued a notice on promoting calligraphy education in primary and secondary schools, a wave of enthusiasm for learning calligraphy has swept among young children. Among them, the outstanding ones have entered the realm of calligraphy creation and have won numerous gold and silver medals in various calligraphy competitions, achieving remarkable results. Their achievements not only showcase the outcomes of calligraphy education in China in recent years but also serve as encouragement and motivation for more young children who are currently learning calligraphy. Here, we have selected 91 winning works of children's calligraphy from past "Civilization Cup" national calligraphy and painting competitions, as well as selected works from some members of the Shanghai Chinese Calligraphy Association. These works are primarily brush calligraphy, fully reflecting the current practice where most children start learning calligraphy with brush calligraphy, which also aligns with the general principles of learning calligraphy. Among these works, various scripts such as regular script, running script, clerical script, cursive script, and seal script are represented, with regular script being predominant. This similarly reflects the current state of children learning calligraphy and adheres to the principle that learning calligraphy should begin with regular script. To facilitate children's calligraphy practice, we have also invited the renowned calligrapher Mr. Shen Honggen to write an article titled "Learning Calligraphy for Children—An Excellent Way to Enhance Comprehensive Qualities," which is placed at the beginning of the book.
