China Public Opinion Supervision Annual Report (2003-2004) (Volume 1 and 2)

Publishing Date: 2006-01-01
Features: Public opinion supervision refers to the role of the media as representatives of the public (citizens) in monitoring the operation of power, especially corruption resulting from the abuse of power. It should be noted that "public opinion supervision" is not a rigorous concept, as it is essentially media supervision, and the claim of representing the public is merely a custom, not a formal authorization or agreement. Similar expressions in foreign countries include "watchdog role of the media," literally translated as "the watchdog (supervisory) role of the media." Given that "public opinion supervision" has become one of the most popular public discourses in China, this collection of essays retains the concepts of "public opinion supervision" or "news public opinion supervision."
