Features: I often define three cities as the scope of my activities while residing in Japan—Osaka, Kobe, and Kyoto. It's not strange to say, over the years, Osaka has been the bustling metropolis where I conducted business, Kobe has been my place of residence, and Kyoto has been the base that pushed me to become a Japanese-language writer five years ago. Cities are reference points; whether they are neighboring countries or hometowns, once you live there, the scenery inevitably leaves you with some insights, and such insights often gradually become clear without you realizing it. My feelings about Osaka are not surprising—there are two kinds: one is the city in my memory, and the other is my current experience. In terms of impression, the former is vertical, while the latter is horizontal. As a foreigner or a traveler, personal experiences are precious. Sometimes we might forget the name of a scenic spot, but we never forget the smile of a person. Osaka is a city, and it is a city where beautiful smiles can be found.
