Features: Graduated medical education is a unique stage in the field of medicine. It consists of two parts. One part is graduate education, and the other is training for resident physicians and specialists. In China, the standardized training system for clinical resident physicians was officially launched under the leadership of the Ministry of Health in 1986. Peking University Clinical Medical College has gone through 17 years from an initial pilot unit to a promoted unit. The training model for clinical resident physicians has become well-established. The training of clinical medical talent has achieved encouraging results. However, in our clinical physician training management work, we have found that the period between completing the standardized training for resident physicians and obtaining the qualification for attending physician before advancing to associate chief physician is very important. Because the clinical medical college not only needs to train physicians capable of handling daily clinical work but also, more importantly, should cultivate genuine clinical medical research experts. For this purpose, the Teaching Office of Peking University Clinical Medical College, along with the Personnel Department, Research Department, and Medical Affairs Department, invited experts, professors, hospital administrative leaders, and leaders of various departments. After multiple discussions, it was decided to launch specialist physician training at our college and begin drafting the training outline for specialist physicians.
