Publishing Date: Not available
Features: Since the mid-1990s, antibody engineering has flourished. A prominent sign of this is the increasing number of antibody-based formulations for in vivo treatment entering the market, making them a hot topic in the development of biotechnology drugs today. The reasons for this are multifaceted. First, technological advancements have played a key role. Following the refinement of antibody engineering technology and antibody library technology, the technique of transgenic IgG mice has gradually matured, making the humanization of antibodies and the production of fully human antibodies no longer a challenge. Second, breakthroughs in the eukaryotic high-efficiency expression of antibodies have been achieved, meeting the demand for large-scale production. Finally, an increasingly important factor is the elucidation of various molecular targets and functions, which has opened up broader horizons for the application of antibodies. These advancements have made certain content in the previous edition of "Antibody Engineering" significantly outdated. Meanwhile, the number of professionals engaged in antibody research, development, and application is rapidly increasing, creating a need for a book that reflects the progress in antibody engineering for both beginners and reference purposes. Compared to the first edition, the new book has undergone considerable changes. The chapter on "Antibody Enzymes," which is less relevant to general readers, has been removed. Two new chapters, "Antibody Expression" and "Transgenic IgG Mice," have been added. Regarding the applications of antibodies, the new book focuses on antibodies that have been approved for market use or are currently undergoing clinical trials for the treatment of various diseases. Other chapters also include numerous additions and deletions. The authors have been engaged in antibody research for over a decade, employing techniques ranging from immunized animals to cell engineering, and even to genetic engineering. The antibodies they have developed have undergone cultivation, animal experiments, and clinical applications. Throughout the process from the laboratory to the clinic, they have learned and gained insights by conducting research. The book presented to the readers now is both a record of their learning experiences and a summary of their work. We believe it will be beneficial to all readers.
