Features: This volume is the third and fourth part of The Complete Collection of Chinese Textiles, Embroidery, and Clothing, titled Clothing Through the Ages (Volume 1 and 2). It is a historically significant collection that comprehensively showcases images and treasures of clothing from various dynasties to date. The development of Chinese clothing has spanned a long period, undergoing thousands of years of inheritance, evolution, and innovation. Throughout the ages, it has continuously absorbed clothing styles from other ethnic groups, yet it has retained its inherent characteristics. From the initial emergence of the forms of "clothing" and "reward," to the modern term "yishang" (clothing), it has become a general term encompassing all types of garments. Through the evolution of time and the succession of dynasties, the clothing styles of the various ethnic groups in China formed the "" (top and bottom garments) pattern. This includes the imperial "" (gown with twelve patterns) and "" (capsuit) adorned with "twelve patterns" that emerged and were continuously refined during the Western Zhou Dynasty. The "" (embroidered clothing) with various dragon, phoenix, and tiger motifs popular during the Spring and Autumn and Warring States periods; the "" (deep clothing) with straight or curved skirts that flourished in the Han Dynasty; the uniquely distinctive "" (ritual hall) robes of the Northern and Southern Dynasties; as well as the rich and magnificent Tang Dynasty clothing. Moving on to the broad "" (direct sleeves) and "" (overgown) of the Song Dynasty, the Yuan Dynasty's "" (qinzun) and "" (dianxian coat), the Ming Dynasty's hierarchical "" (pufu), and the Qing Dynasty's unique ethnic minority clothing such as the "" (Eight Banners) attire and the "" (open-collared robe). All of these are typical clothing styles of each dynasty. This volume is divided into two parts: the first part covers ancient times to the Song Dynasty, while the second part covers the Spring and Autumn, Western Xia, Jin, Yuan, Ming, and Qing Dynasties up to the late Qing. It primarily displays 1,489 representative images and treasure photographs of clothing from the 2nd millennium BC to the early 20th century, each with historical and artistic value. At the beginning of each volume, The Development of Chinese Clothing (Volume 1 and 2) is published, and each selected image is accompanied by an illustration description.
