Do I have to have a D&C?

Patient's question:

I had a medication abortion two weeks ago. The doctor examined and saw a gestational sac being expelled. Later, I took a herb called Yi Mu Cao for nearly 10 days, but the bleeding did not stop. A HCG test showed a faint positive result, so I went back to the hospital for another check-up. The ultrasound revealed a 9x12x17mm mass in the posterior uterine cavity. The doctor prescribed another week of Yi Mu Cao, saying that if the blood clots were still this large, a D&C procedure would be necessary. However, now my bleeding has reduced to just a little. Could the experts here offer some advice? Do you think there’s still hope? Is a D&C really the only option? I’m very worried. Thank you all!!!!

Doctor's answer:

After taking your medication, you experienced repeated vaginal bleeding that did not stop. An ultrasound examination was performed, and the doctor recommended anti-inflammatory and hemostatic treatment. If the ultrasound examination does not reveal any clear abnormalities, you can temporarily take anti-inflammatory and hemostatic medication. If the ultrasound examination finds intrauterine remnants, a Dilation and Curettage (D&C) procedure should be performed.
