1. This compilation, "Bibliography of Chinese Archaeology," consists of two parts: a book list and a periodical index, both organized under generally consistent categories. The published works included cover the period from 1971 to 1982. The primary focus is on publicly available books and periodicals, with selected internal publications included as well.
2. To facilitate archaeological research, this "Bibliography of Chinese Archaeology" not only includes various scholarly works and materials on Chinese archaeology but also selectively incorporates literature from related disciplines, such as: Ancient Chinese History, Cultural History of China, Art History of China, History of Science and Technology in China, Ethnic History of China, Sino-foreign Relations History, as well as Paleoanthropology, Historical Geography, Ethnography, etc. The selection criteria primarily depend on the relevance of the content to archaeology or the extent to which archaeological data is cited. Documents on archaeology from abroad are generally excluded, except those related to Sino-foreign relations.
3. The book list section includes over 500 works on Chinese archaeology and related topics. It records the authors, publishers, and publication dates of each book, with the format and page numbers noted as much as possible. Reviews published in periodicals are also included for reference. Books marked with an asterisk () are reprinted editions. Some popular pamphlets and loose-leaf picture collections have been selectively included.
4. The periodical index section contains over 7,000 entries. Articles marked with a [ ] are brief reports, news, or general introductions to archaeological work, and were selectively recorded in this compilation. If a formal archaeological report or brief announcement has already been recorded in this bibliography, general news reports are not included.
5. The arrangement of works and materials in this bibliography, under various categories, is also organized as much as possible according to content.
6. For the compilers of various works and materials, if the original title includes an organization or institution name along with the author(s), the author(s)' names are listed in parentheses.
7. This "Bibliography" was primarily compiled based on the self-owned publications and periodicals, with reference to the "National Catalogue" and "National New Catalogue" compiled by the National Library of China, as well as the "National Main Periodical Index" compiled by the Shanghai Library.
