Features: The TOEIC exam primarily focuses on everyday English used in work environments, excluding theoretical English and avoiding the use of specialized terminology. Due to the entirely different testing purposes, the design, content, and scope of the exam are also distinct. The Educational Testing Service (ETS) employs over 100 experts specifically to develop the TOEIC question bank. The questions are collected from English-speaking countries worldwide in work environments, derived from samples of spoken and written language, and reviewed collaboratively by exam developers and external reviewers to ensure the questions are unbiased, free from racial discrimination, and culturally neutral. Currently, the various exams popular in Chinese society are mostly intended for domestic higher education or overseas studies, with no high-level standard for workplace English proficiency. To adapt to China's rapid opening-up and economic and technological exchanges with the world, further improve China's investment environment, the Vocational Skills Assessment Center of the Ministry of Labor and Social Security and ETS signed an agreement to directly introduce the TOEIC exam as China's professional English standard. As the first internationally recognized mid-to-high-end professional English proficiency certification standard introduced in China after its entry into the WTO, the TOEIC exam has become a significant milestone in aligning China's professional English skills certification with international standards. Test-takers who obtain TOEIC scores will also receive a corresponding "Professional English Proficiency Certificate" issued by the China National Vocational Qualification Center (OSTA). The TOEIC exam is a test for non-native English speakers, measuring their everyday English skills in an international work environment.
