Features: Since the publication of A Textbook of Western Sociological Theory in 2001, it has received the attention and support of many sociological colleagues. Many departments of sociology and social work across various universities have adopted this textbook. Through several years of teaching practice, we have identified numerous errors and issues within the textbook. To promptly correct these mistakes and problems, at the end of 2004, under the initiative of the book's editor-in-chief, Nankai University Press organized a meeting with authors from various schools to discuss the revision of A Textbook of Western Sociological Theory at Nankai University. The meeting conducted a thorough study and analysis of the errors and issues in the textbook, as well as discussions on potential solutions. The guiding principle for this revision is to maintain the original content framework while striving for more scientific selection of materials, clearer logic, more accurate content, and more accessible language. It can be said that after the revision, A Textbook of Western Sociological Theory has undergone significant changes and improvements in both the introduction of Western sociological theory systems and the presentation of specific content, making it more suitable and responsive to the needs of Western sociological theory teaching.
