Samsung Kingdom: Lee Byung-chul Era

Author: Kang Junwan (Korea)
Publisher:
Publish Date: 2006-09-01
Features: Lee Byung-chul grew up in a unique environment and received special education. He possesses outstanding qualities, to the extent that our existing knowledge cannot truly comprehend him. What we lack is not the "facts" about him or research into his private life, but rather rational analysis and understanding. This book attempts to comprehensively and rationally analyze Samsung Group and Lee Byung-chul. The main text is divided into five chapters, discussing Lee Byung-chul as a person, his business philosophy, his leadership style, and his relationship with South Korea and its society. Among the most valuable aspects of the book is the author providing us with many authentic details about Samsung, including some negative "leaks." It is rare to gain such insights into Samsung, one of Asia's top companies, its leader, and the various relationships and governance structures both internally and externally. For The Samsung Kingdom, my only review is four words: thought-provoking. I believe all Chinese entrepreneurs aspiring to achieve dominance should read it, using Lee Byung-chul and Samsung as a mirror for self-reflection. Lee Byung-chul is the second generation inheritor of the Samsung Kingdom. Since the family legacy passed to him, not only has Samsung's business not declined, but it has continued to flourish. So, who exactly is Lee Byung-chul? What unique qualities and methods set him apart? Is Korean society highly accepting of this company? These are the questions we particularly want to know and learn from. However, Lee Byung-chul himself keeps his cards close to his chest and rarely appears in public. The inner workings of the Lee family are even more unknown to us. This book actually lifts the curtain behind the scenes, giving us a glimpse into a more multifaceted Lee Byung-chul and Samsung.
