Features: The "Shuangshuang Chinese Textbooks" is a series of Chinese textbooks specifically designed for overseas students, suitable for adolescents with some background in Chinese (used in weekend Chinese classes). The textbooks were developed through the collaborative efforts of Wang Shuangshuang, a teacher from California, USA, and Chinese experts and scholars, based on eight years of teaching practice overseas. The entire series consists of 20 volumes, covering 2,500 characters, and includes learning from character recognition, pinyin, sentence structures, short passages, to an initial systematic introduction to Chinese culture. The textbooks provide a broad overview of Chinese geography, history, philosophy, and other rich aspects of Chinese culture. They are knowledge-intensive, engaging, easy to understand, and suitable for both teaching and learning. This book is the 9th volume of "Shuangshuang Chinese Textbooks," designed for third-grade Chinese students in the second semester. This volume features a variety of text types, including classical poetry, modern poetry, stories, and diaries. The content has also increased in difficulty compared to previous volumes, with passages ranging around 600 words. New forms such as crosstalk and tongue twisters have been introduced in the reading texts. Sentence structures are more complex than in earlier volumes, and the book also emphasizes commonly used conjunctions and antonyms. The entire book contains 10 lessons, with 137 new characters and 143 new vocabulary words. The recommended teaching time is 12–14 hours (with each hour lasting 1.5 hours). Upon completion of this volume, students will have learned a total of 969 characters, and their listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills will have reached a certain level, allowing them to gradually learn and engage with various cultural subjects.
