From September 12, 1948, to November 2, 1948, our army fought a large-scale battle against the Nationalist army in the Liaoshen Campaign, which was unprecedented in the history of Chinese warfare and rare in the history of world warfare. On the battlefield, both sides engaged in fierce combat, testing their courage and wisdom. The battle lasted 52 days and ended with the victory of the People's Liberation Army. In this battle, the Nationalist "Kwantung Army" and its four corps headquarters, 11 army headquarters, 36 divisions, and local garrison forces were annihilated, with over 470,000 casualties. The entire Northeast was liberated. With the liberation of the Northeast, the Northeast People's Liberation Army was able to focus on operations in the interior, striking the death knell of the Chiang Kai-shek regime.
