In June 1999, the Third National Educational Conference issued the "Decision of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council on Deepening Reform and Comprehensively Promoting Quality Education." It is difficult to achieve substantive results in educational reform without reforming curriculum and classroom teaching. Therefore, the Personnel Department of the Ministry of Education decided to offer the "Curriculum and Classroom Teaching" course in the training of primary and secondary school principals. The reform of curriculum and classroom teaching is also a difficult issue in the current reform of basic education in China. The compilers of this book have long been engaged in the training of primary and secondary school principals and have deeply felt that principals are very eager to understand and master the theory of curriculum and classroom teaching, as well as relevant information about the reform trends in these fields. Supported by the Personnel Department of the Ministry of Education and the National Expert Committee for Primary and Secondary School Principal Training, they embarked on compiling this textbook.
