Features: Folklore is a discipline that studies various folk customs. It has been established and developed in China for over half a century, traversing a winding path. Currently, this discipline is expanding in breadth and depth, attracting increasing attention from people both domestically and internationally. To inherit and promote the excellent folklore heritage of all ethnic groups in China, foster mutual understanding and unity among them; and to meet the needs of the discipline construction of folklore in China, our publishing house has decided to publish a large-scale series—Folklore Library—and has established an editorial committee for this purpose. This series will focus on introducing folk customs and traditions such as marriage, family, village life, festivals, funerals, religion, ethics, etiquette, and oral literature. To promote the development of folklore theoretical research, the series will also include relevant monographs and translations on folklore from both domestic and international scholars.
A saying goes, "Different winds in a thousand miles, different customs in ten thousand miles." China is vast in territory and home to numerous ethnic groups, each having developed distinct customs over long periods of historical development. We are fully aware that editing and publishing such a large-scale series is no easy task. We sincerely hope to receive strong support from folklore and ethnology experts, as well as readers, to make this series truly a treasury of folklore heritage from all ethnic groups.
