Publishing Date: 2004-12-02
Features: This book is a comprehensive and systematic academic work on the Japanese invasion of China's education in China. It was published against the backdrop of intense cultural clashes between China and the West, and amid the rampant activities of right-wing forces in Japan denying the war crimes of invasion. It carries significant political responsibilities and high academic demands. However, due to the authors' limitations and many objective conditions, there are still many shortcomings, such as the scarcity of materials on the occupied areas within China and the need for deeper research. For instance, the data used in the entire book mainly comes from the colonial education authorities of Japan and puppet regimes, while the victims at the time had little written records. The oral testimonies of teachers and students who personally experienced the Japanese colonial education were also collected and organized in an incomplete manner. This makes it inevitable that there are areas in the book's data and historical accounts that need strengthening. Now, most of those who personally experienced the Japanese education in China are over seventy years old, and their memories are declining. Some have also suffered setbacks due to historical reasons and remain fearful. It is a major and urgent task to rescue the oral testimonies of these witnesses. In recent years, the Japanese Ministry of Education and related universities have invested substantial financial and human resources in the study of Japanese colonial education and the collection of historical materials. As a victimized country, we should, from the political perspective of safeguarding national interests and the image of the nation, opposing the invasion war, and preventing the revival of Japanese militarism, as well as from the perspective of maintaining China's leading position in the study of colonial education history, increase our support for research in this field. In particular, we need to make the investigation of witnesses who personally experienced the Japanese colonial education in China an urgent task, organize capable teams, and work diligently to ensure its completion. Therefore, under the care and guidance of the central leadership and the Liaoning Provincial Committee, we will strengthen our efforts according to the needs of the investigation work and continue to strive hard to complete the "Investigation of Japanese Education in China" and the "Oral History Research on Japanese Colonial Education in China" as soon as possible. We will enrich this book with a large amount of vivid and rich oral testimonies, and we sincerely welcome experts and scholars at home and abroad to provide valuable opinions to make this book even more perfect.
