Features: The new edition of "Sketching" textbook was developed in response to the urgent demand of young art enthusiasts. It is an updated and improved version based on the original "Sketching" textbook. In the past five years, the "Sketching" textbook has introduced tens of thousands of young people to the world of art and the doors of art academies, making a broad impact. To more accurately reflect the "National School Art Education Master Plan," I was invited to oversee the writing of this new edition of "Sketching." Although the primary audience remains young students, we strive for meticulous art education quality, including patient explanations and high-standard demonstrations. For this purpose, four experienced senior teachers from the Shanghai University of Fine Arts and Tongji University, with rich teaching experience, were organized to co-author this book. The new edition of "Sketching" aligns with the psychology and artistic cognitive patterns of young people, catering to the current scope of various professional exams in secondary and higher art institutions and the requirements of candidates. It is divided into four parts: "Geometric Solids and Plaster Still Life," "Plaster Busts," "Plaster Heads and Chest Portraits," and "Portrait Sketching," progressing from simple to complex and in a gradual, step-by-step manner, which is highly beneficial for beginners' training. I hope to see more art enthusiasts join us in opening the door to the art of sketching and to see their presence among the ranks of artists in the new century.
