Pinocchio: The Complete Translation

Features: The story of Pinocchio, a puppet, is one that most people are familiar with, at least in part, especially those who know some of its lessons. For example, Pinocchio is a puppet who loves to lie. In front of the Fairy, every time he lies, his nose grows longer by an inch. Pinocchio shamefully admits his mistake, and the Fairy summons a woodpecker to peck his nose back to its original length. This scene clearly teaches children not to lie.
There's also the part where Pinocchio goes to school. He is tempted by his classmates to go to "Toyland," where they spend five months of wild fun, only to end up turning into an ass and being sold to a circus by bad people. This lesson clearly teaches children not to indulge in play.
Another example is when Pinocchio rescues his father, Geppetto, from the belly of a shark. To cure his father's illness, he works tirelessly as a laborer for farmers, day and night, and eventually moves the Fairy with his filial piety. In recognition of his loyalty, the Fairy finally turns him from a puppet into a real boy. The moral of this story is also self-evident.
Collodi tells children a fun and amusing story while also imparting lessons, hoping they will learn basic principles of being a good person—honesty, responsibility, a love for learning, respect for parents, and so on—from this entertaining tale. The story is particularly enjoyable from the beginning, making you laugh out loud as you read it. Believe it or not, start with The Talking Wood.
One of the most typical features of Pinocchio is its simplicity and accessibility. Its language is somewhat colloquial, and it aims to make readers laugh throughout. Reading Pinocchio by Collodi is one of the happiest spiritual adventures many people have in their lives.
