Lianzhou Underground River

The Lianzhou Underground River, also known as the Qingyuan Underground River Tourist Area, is located in Dadong Village, Dongpo Town, Lianzhou City, Guangdong Province. This scenic area covers a visitable area of 60,000 square meters.

The scenery here is truly unique. The entire karst cave is divided into three levels and spans across four mountains. The first level features an underground river perfect for boat tours. Inside the cave, you can also find a spectacular waterfall, splashing like a white ribbon dancing in mid-air. The second and third levels are land layers where visitors can marvel at the myriad shapes of stalactites and enjoy a dreamlike fairyland. It is also a great place to learn about scientific knowledge regarding crustal movements, geological changes, and cave formation over hundreds of millions of years, leaving one in awe of nature's uncanny workmanship.

The "Golden Hall" serves as the welcoming lobby of the underground river, named for its pure golden floodlighting. This grand hall gathers the essence of karst landforms; it is magnificent and resplendent, resembling a mystical fairyland. Qin Mu, a renowned modern essayist, praised it as a "mysterious and magnificent underground river."

The air inside the cave is fresh, oxygen-rich, and comfortably humid. The temperature remains around 20°C year-round, making it warm in winter and cool in summer. Due to the abundance of stalactites, the air is rich in healthy trace elements like potassium and calcium, offering significant benefits for health and wellness.

On August 29, 2011, the Lianzhou Underground River was approved as a National AAAAA-level Tourist Attraction by the National Tourism Administration. It became the sixth such attraction in Guangdong Province and the very first in Qingyuan City.
