Features: Preface My works, such as "Civil Law Doctrine and Case Studies," were published in simplified Chinese by the China University of Political Science and Law in 1997. I sincerely thank the readers for their support and guidance. This edition has been thoroughly corrected, the style adjusted, and the book reprinted to achieve greater perfection, making it more convenient for use and collection. I respectfully request your valuable comments and corrections, which would be deeply appreciated. The Civil Code of Taiwan was formulated in mainland China in 1929, based on the German Civil Code while also incorporating legislative examples from Switzerland and Japan. Since 1946, it has been applied in Taiwan, providing an efficient and stable private legal order for socio-economic development for over half a century. My works aim to analyze and discuss the social changes in the Civil Code and the interactive relationship between theory and practice. The focus is on applying legal methods to conduct in-depth research on specific cases, interpreting and applying the Civil Code, integrating doctrines and case law, and attempting to construct fundamental concepts, theoretical systems, and guiding principles of the Civil Code with rigorous arguments and reasoning. It is hoped that this updated and reprinted edition will continue to contribute to the progress and development of civil law studies in China. Wang Zejian October 4, 2004
